Track Learner Analytics with SSO

Before you get started

Before you begin working with this feature, make sure to fully understand what steps should be taken ahead of time, as well as the limitations of the feature and potential consequences of using it.

Understand requirements

  • Single Sign On - SSO or SAML - will need to be configured for the account. SSO enablement is available on our Team and Enterprise plans.
  • In order for iorad to track specific Learner Analytics, a learner must have an iorad account created and must be logged in.

Understand limitations & considerations

  • If this tutorial will be shared with both internal learners and external learners, such as customers, it is recommended to duplicate the tutorial, and use the duplicated tutorial for external learner with less strict privacy settings, such as Unlisted.

SSO / SAML Configuration and Settings

Vendor Config

  • Select “Force all domain users to sign-in using SAML”. This will ensure that your company’s learners will need to log in to iorad before viewing any tutorial content.

iorad Settings

  • Select Disable tutorial creation - selecting "disable tutorial creation" will:
    • remove the "creator" and "capture" tab in the extension
    • and disable capture in the dashboard for any SAML logged-in non-team creator.
  • Select Show iorad learner help icon - by selecting “Show iorad learner help icon”, the “?” icon will now display in the bottom right corner of any website that has existing tutorials that have been shared with the user.
  • Deselect Show team tutorials - selecting "Show team tutorials" automatically gives view access of ALL team tutorials to any SAML users without needing to "enabling domain share" on each tutorial. However, this can lead to visibility of tutorials that you or other team creators may not want shared out publicly.
    • Our recommendation is to not enable this option. Logged in SSO users can view team tutorials through the iorad extension on the corresponding domain.

Additional settings:

  • Show Community Tutorials — community tutorials refers to iorad reviewed & whitelisted tutorials. These tutorials will show on the "Library" tab in the extension on the corresponding domain.
  • Show Category Tutorial Count — shows the number of tutorials in each category.
  • Open panel in large mode by default
  • Default view on open
    • Categories/Subcategories
    • Only Categories
    • Everything expanded

Tutorial Level

For tutorial content that will be viewed by internal learners (i.e. learners with the same email domain), customers can use a combination of SSO, Domain View Access and Invite Only to track learner analytics.

To track learner analytics and engagement at the tutorial level:

  • Complete SSO/SAML set up and vendor configuration. Select “Force all domain users to sign-in using SAML”.
  • Once a tutorial has been created, set the tutorial privacy to “Invite Only”.
  • Click on “Invite” on the right side of the Privacy settings.
  • Click “Domain View Access” and add the email domain.

For tutorial content that will be viewed by learners with various email domains but you still want to track learner analytics, customers can use a combination of SSO, Domain View Access and Invite Only to track learner analytics.

Example:

I work for the umbrella company that franchises one of its business units. I am using iorad tutorials to onboard new franchise owners to our proprietary software. These franchise owners all have their own websites and domains, so each one is different.

To ensure that the owners are forced to either create an iorad account OR log into an existing one when accessing these tutorials, so that I can track their learner analytics:

  • Set the tutorial privacy to “Invite Only”.
  • Under “Domain View Access”, I will either individually add the domain names, or, if I have a large list to start with, I will upload a CSV of those names.

As long as the tutorial privacy remains set to “Invite Only”

Library Level

You can individually invite users, upload a csv, or invite via domain sharing. If your Library & tutorials are set to invite only then they would be presented with a login screen if they weren't already logged in.
